International superstars Jerry Hall and David Soul return to Dublin to star in AR Gurney’s Love Letters at the Gaiety Theatre for one week only from June 18.
Love Letters chronicles the relationship between Andy and Melissa solely through their correspondence. Their poignantly funny friendship and ill-fated romance takes them from junior school through adolescence, dating, maturity and into middle age. Notes and Valentines in junior school soon replaced by letters and postcards, reveal strict WASP upbringings, political aspirations, artistic ambitions and love affairs. Through their words, both hysterical and moving, the audience comes to know the characters intimately, idiosyncrasies and all.
A smash hit both off and on Broadway, this beautifully moving little gem of a show is a humorous, charming, sad and poignant night of theatre. Directed by Michael Scott, this production of Love Letters stars Jerry Hall and David Soul.
Jerry Hall has been involved in major Hollywood, Broadway and West End productions. She starred in Tim Burton’s Batman alongside Jack Nicholson, and took on the role of Mrs. Robinson in a 2000 stage production of The Graduate. Most recently, she starred in her own reality TV show Kept on VH1, and appeared in Cole Porter’s High Society in London’s West End.
Perhaps best known for his role as ‘Hutch’ in the cult television series, Starsky and Hutch, American-British actor and singer David Soul has also starred in such films as Magnum Force with Clint Eastwood and Salem’s Lot with James Mason, while enjoying a successful recording career that has delivered two U.K. and U.S. number one hits: ‘Don’t Give Up on Us’ and ‘Silver Lady.’ He has also toured in theatre productions of Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers (New Zealand and Australia) and Ira Levin’s Deathtrap (U.K.). His West End credits include Blood Brothers, Alan Ayckbourn’s Comic Potential, Jerry Springer: the Opera and Jerry Herman’s musical Mack & Mabel. He is currently performing a one-man show based on the life and poetry of Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda.
Love Letters runs at the Gaiety for one week only from Monday, June 18 to Saturday, June 23. This production is presented by the Mill Theatre, Dundrum and City Theatre Dublin in association with the Gaiety Theatre. Tickets are priced from €17.50 to €40.
